The "what ever will we have for tea/dinner/supper tonight?" syndrome will be very familiar to most every day cooks. The hope is this list will help me plan, and maybe help someone else too, and maybe save some money on groceries.
Oh yes! Don't eat fast food. Any kind of fast food. If you actually stop and look at and taste what you're eating, it's disgusting. Really, it is ... you've been brainwashed!
And continuing on that theme, I notice that teenagers who visit us are increasingly unwilling to eat the food that I cook. Please note: I am not a bad cook! Really, I'm not! Firstly, it seems they are uncomfortable just sitting at table to eat (this particularly applies to young Amercian friends) and talk and take their time over a meal, and secondly, it seems that they have become so inured to high-salt, chemically flavoured foods (such as fast-food chicken, for an example) that those flavours now have become normal to them, and normal unflavoured food seems alien to their palates. That's more than a shame, that's frightening. It is of course why the food corporations are spending billions on researching and advertising to children, just so they get to educate children's palates. Yuk!
