Canon's first foray into making Digital SLR's affordable to the masses. It's basically a Canon 10D with some of the features a professional would care about (but hopefully not an amatuer) removed in software.

Hacking

It's possible to change the firmware on the 300D so that the cripled features get enabled and it effectively becomes a 10D with a different body.
