We used to use the PhoneticAlphabet at InternetAlaska all the time as a way of clearly communicating passwords to customers. However put a bunch of early twenty somethings in a room and make them use the PhoneticAlphabet regularly and other alternatives will emerge. Sadly I've forgotten them all but I now have a way a cataloging them if ever I remember or help create a new one.

This obviously needs to be finished. However for the official one you'll notice that you get:
Seven mens names (charlie, mike, oscar, papa, tango1, romeo, victor)
- Four places (hotel, lima, sierra, quebec)
- Two dances (foxtrot, tango)
- One alcoholic drink (whisky)
- One womans name (juliet)
1 Dodgy, but think about the movie "Tango and Cash".
