TacitNetworks makes a CIFS and NFS Caching appliance. This is potentially a really interesting service for allowing remote offices access to a centralized file server with reasonable performance.
It looks like the way works is that remote users read/write files from their local appliance (with the appliance fetching it if it isn't already cached). It "optimizes" it by using compression and just sending the delta's back to home base.
