Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and sits at the very bottom of the North Island.
Renters Guides:
According to a friend it's surprisingly easy to find month to month leases. Unlike DunedinNewZealand, most landlords are happy with periodic tenancy - where you only have to give three weeks notice. If you're living downtown then one bedroom places are around $250pw up to $400 per week for somewhere quite flash. Two bedroom places in town are a lot more popular so they're a bit more expensive - $350pw up to $1000pw for somewhere really flash. If you want to live a bit further out in the 'burbs then it's a bit cheaper.

is it anywhere near Auckland? http://www.lod.org/electrum.html
AucklandNewZealand is near the top of the North Island. Wellington is right at the very bottom of the North Island. So closer rather then farther but still about a ten hour drive. -- Adam
